Section 03
Newborn Care
Skin-to-skin, cord clamping, first bath, and feeding preferences right after birth.
Immediate after birth
- Skin-to-skin — 1 hour total: 30 minutes with mom, then 30 minutes with dad
- Cord clamping — wait until the cord is completely white (not just “delayed”)
- Decide who cuts the cord
- First bath — delay to keep the vernix / natural barrier
Feeding
- Breastfeeding only — no formula
- Lactation consult — probably not needed
